Case Manager Position
.8FTE (28 Hours Per Week)

We have a unique opportunity for the right candidate to fill the role of Case Manager at Family Centre. The Case Manager will be an integral part of the Family Support Team and provide direct and indirect supports to clients accessing our groups and counselling services.

Family Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides families in Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta with caring and professional family support. Family Centre offers a comprehensive range of prevention and early intervention services for children, youth, adults, parents and other family members. Family Centre is recognized as a Government of Alberta Parent Link Centre. Its services include information and referrals, early childhood education, parent education, family support programs and counselling.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the recruitment and support of clients in the Supporting Father Involvement program. This includes relationship building, conducting assessments and gathering outcomes. The incumbent will also be responsible for counselling client intakes and wait-list management. Working closely with the counselling team and our partner agencies will ensure the best referrals are offered to meet the needs of Family Centre clients. This position may require up to two evenings per week; however, typical shifts would be between 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• A Diploma or Degree in a Human Services related field with a strong consideration for Social Work or Child and Youth Care or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Competency working with clients from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds
• Working knowledge of local community resources and experience with providing appropriate referrals to individuals in need
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and community agencies

As a condition of employment, a current First Aid Certificate, a clean Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector (within 6 months) and a clean Child and Family Services Intervention Record Check (within 6 months) will be required. The successful candidate must have a class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle. The salary range for this position is between $19.78/hr (Diploma) and $21.98/hr (Bachelor’s Degree). Anticipated start date for this position is March 19, 2018.

Kitchen Coordinator

Family Centre invites applications for a permanent, full-time (35 hours/week) position of Kitchen Coordinator.

Family Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides families in Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta with caring and professional family support. Family Centre offers a comprehensive range of prevention and early intervention services for children, youth, adults, parents and other family members. Family Centre is recognized as a Government of Alberta Parent Link Centre. Its services include information and referrals, early childhood education, parent education, family support programs and counselling.

This position will be located at Family Centre North, in the Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen at Interfaith Food Bank. The goal of this position is to address the cycle of poverty by working with participants to provide hands on cooking classes with a focus on economical and nutritious meals based on the Canada Food Guide and a limited budget. In addition, this position will support individuals by providing information and referrals and parent support which may be offered individually or within a group setting. This position will involve some evening and weekend work.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Have a strong desire and capacity to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals
• Knowledge and experience related to meal planning, food safety, budgeting, nutrition
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals to provide education, support, advocacy and referrals. Experience working with parents and Triple P training is an asset
• A Diploma or Degree in a Human Services related field with a strong consideration for Social Work or Child and Youth Care or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of local community resources and experience with providing appropriate referrals to individuals in need
• Ability to network and build working relationships with colleagues and community agencies
• Strong organization skills are required, along with an ability to worindependently, be proactive, self-directed and ethical
• Computer skills and literacy
