Family Centre > Partners > Opokaa’sin

This organization was created in 1996 as a joint partnership by various First Nations partners as an effort toward prevention and early intervention for First Nations children within Lethbridge and surrounding Regions.

Building a strong foundation in the early years increases positive outcomes.  Early experiences literally shape the brain and lay the foundation for all the development and behavior that follows.  This culturally inclusive PACT program is so important.  Family Centre and Opokaa’sin work together to create an environment where children can  interact and learn from each other through play.  The program is offered on site at Opokaa’sin Early Intervention Society and is sensitive to the needs of aboriginal children and their families.  Activities are based on the children’s interests and facilitators provide additional activities and information that promote healthy brain development and answer parenting questions.
