Professional Development

Family Centre offers for-fee professional development opportunities for counsellors and related professionals. We bring in experienced professionals with expertise in areas relevant to counselling practitioners. The format can vary from short two-hour presentations to all-day workshops and depends on topic and speaker. Any member of the public can attend these presentations. To register, please call Family Centre’s front desk. Note that registration is complete only once the fee has been paid in full. If unable to attend, reimbursement of fees will be made up to three business days prior to the workshop only.

eMental Health Technologies with Dr. Eva Hudlicka

One day workshop on eMental Health technologies focuses on mobile apps for mental health. For clinicians, researchers, administrators & policy makers interested in learning more about mobile apps in clinical practice. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy: An Attachment Perspective on Relationship Difficulties by Dr. Richard Harrison

Relationship distress is the single most common reason for seeking therapy. It undermines family and individual functioning and is strongly associated with depression and anxiety. EFT is an empirically supported short-term approach that applies attachment theory to understand couple distress. This 2-day workshop is designed for couples therapists, as well as therapists who work exclusively with individuals. Cost: $350, Early Bird (September 10, 2018) and student pricing of $300 available.
