Family Centre’s Volunteer Program places volunteers for a variety of positions. Orientation, training, supervision and performance evaluations are offered for all volunteers.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following position(s):

(1) Early Childhood Education Assistants

Description: If you enjoy putting your creativity and imagination to use as well as working with children 12 years of age and under, this role might be for you! Interact with children and their caregivers as well as assist our staff with program set-up, facilitation and take-down.
Details: Various locations and shifts; please reach out to us for current openings.

(2) Library Assistant

Description: Do you love books?  Have a flair for organization? We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in maintaining our resource library at our Downtown location.
Details: Choose your own schedule within our hours of operation Monday-Friday; Saturdays may be an option. Morning or afternoon shifts available.  Basic computer skills would be an asset.

(3) Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

Description: We are looking for new team members who are passionate about families and the community to join our Parent Advisory Council! The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of 6-8 dedicated individuals, consisting of parents and caregivers whose mission is to serve as a voice for the community in guiding program development, as well as to increase awareness of programs and services and support the longevity of Family Centre through advocacy.

Details: PAC will help organize and participate in fundraisers, community events and activities throughout the year. The PAC will serve as ambassadors of Family Centre by promoting our organization and ensuring community needs are heard through parent advocacy. Time investment will include one monthly meeting (min. 1 hr) as well as approx. 5-10 additional hours a month allotted for organizing, planning and carrying out activities.

Rewarding Volunteer Roles include:

Early Childhood Assistants – Family Centre offers a number of parent and child programs where you interact with children and their caregivers in our Melcor Playroom/Ronald McDonald Play Area, Iron Works Indoor Playground, Family Centre West and Family Centre North programs.

Special Events Assistants – Family Centre participates in a number of FUN events which enables us to raise funds as well as interact with the community. Highway Cleanup, Bottle Drives, McHappy Day, and Boo Bash are just a few.

Clerical Assistants – People wanting to gain or maintain their clerical skills can take advantage of many opportunities.

Family Support Assistants – Our parent education and community kitchen offer a variety of programs designed to assist with personal growth, strengthening parenting, budgeting, food preparation and seeking solutions that work for you. Volunteers assist facilitators in a variety of ways.

Board of Directors and Committees – Opportunities are available to grow and strengthen Family Centre. Applications are accepted from January through March.

We have a great practicum-based volunteer opportunity through the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College.

Family Centre serves a culturally diverse community and therefore we will recruit a diverse volunteer population to contribute as much to the quality of services as to the quantity.
