Family Centre’s Volunteer Program places volunteers for a variety of positions. Orientation, training, supervision and performance evaluations are offered for all volunteers.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following position(s):
(1) Clerical Support
Description: Are you organized, people-focused and looking to gain valuable career experience? We are looking for volunteers to assist our administrative staff with a few duties!
Details: This role would include covering the reception desk on Wednesdays between 1:00-3:00pm by answering phones, greeting clients, etc. Additional tasks include administrative support for our various programs and initiatives, including preparing materials, data entry, etc.
(2) Early Childhood Education Assistants – Family Centre Downtown & Family Centre West
Description: We are looking for volunteers interested in Early Childhood Education Assistant opportunities for 2023! If you enjoy putting your creativity and imagination to use as well as working with children 12 and under, this role might be for you!
Details: Please reach out to us for details! Duties include program set-up and preparation, interacting with children and their caregivers, assisting the program facilitator with any specific tasks, and clean-up. Opportunities available at both Downtown and West locations.
(3) Board of Directors
Description: You can grow and strengthen Family Centre through our Board of Director positions. Lend your unique skills, talents and experience in shaping the direction of the organization.
Details: Applications will be accepted from January to March 2023. Monthly time commitment is 3-5 hours. To apply, please complete a volunteer application form.

Rewarding Volunteer Roles include:
Early Childhood Assistants – Family Centre offers a number of parent and child programs where you interact with children and their caregivers in our Melcor Playroom/Ronald McDonald Play Area, Iron Works Indoor Playground, Family Centre West and Family Centre North programs.
Special Events Assistants – Family Centre participates in a number of FUN events which enables us to raise funds as well as interact with the community. Highway Cleanup, Bottle Drive, McHappy Day, and Boo Bash are just a few.
Clerical Assistants – People wanting to gain or maintain their clerical skills can take advantage of many opportunities.
Web/IT Support – Put your computer skills to use by providing technical support for our website and social media channels.
Digital Communications – Assist our staff with content creation, design and marketing for our online campaigns.
Family Support Assistants – Our parent education and community kitchen offer a variety of programs designed to assist with personal growth, strengthening parenting, budgeting, food preparation and seeking solutions that work for you. Volunteers assist facilitators in a variety of ways.
Board of Directors and Committees – Opportunities are available to grow and strengthen Family Centre. Applications are accepted from January through March.
We have a great practicum-based volunteer opportunity through the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College. Family Centre serves a culturally diverse community and therefore we will recruit a diverse volunteer population to contribute as much to the quality of services as to the quantity.
