Family Centre’s Volunteer Program places volunteers for a variety of positions. Orientation, training, supervision and performance evaluations are offered for all volunteers.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following position(s):
(1) Digital Communications Assistant
Description: assist with online content development and marketing plans for our website and social media platforms. If you have a creative side and/or a flair for advertising, we would love to hear from you!
Skills and pre-requisites: Working knowledge in digital communications, new media, marketing/advertising, or related fields; Availability for approximately 5-10 volunteer hours per week.
Details: Work remotely and choose your own hours, some scheduled onsite hours may be required; Assist in creating and designing content; Assist with online marketing and advertising strategies; Consult on social media content and analytics.
(2) Library Assistant
Description: Do you love books? Have a flair for organization? We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in maintaining our resource library at our Downtown location.
Details: Choose your own schedule within our hours of operation Monday-Friday, Saturdays may be an option. Morning, afternoon or evening shifts available. Basic computer skills would be an asset.
(3) Special Event Assistants – McHappy Day
We have one shift left to fill for our McHappy Day event this coming May 11, 2022! We are looking for 2-4 volunteers to assist from 7:30-9:30am at the Mayor Magrath North location! If you are enthusiastic, love people and want to help raise money for a great cause, we urge you to apply!
Volunteers will be assigned 2-hr shifts during which they will greet customers and collect cash donations at one of the various McDonald’s locations across the city.

Rewarding Volunteer Roles include:
Early Childhood Assistants – Family Centre offers a number of parent and child programs where you interact with children and their caregivers in our Melcor Playroom/Ronald McDonald Play Area, Iron Works Indoor Playground, Family Centre West and Family Centre North programs.
Special Events Assistants – Family Centre participates in a number of FUN events which enables us to raise funds as well as interact with the community. Highway Cleanup, Bottle Drives, McHappy Day, and Boo Bash are just a few.
Clerical Assistants – People wanting to gain or maintain their clerical skills can take advantage of many opportunities.
Family Support Assistants – Our parent education and community kitchen offer a variety of programs designed to assist with personal growth, strengthening parenting, budgeting, food preparation and seeking solutions that work for you. Volunteers assist facilitators in a variety of ways.
Board of Directors and Committees – Opportunities are available to grow and strengthen Family Centre. Applications are accepted from January through March.
We have a great practicum-based volunteer opportunity through the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College.
Family Centre serves a culturally diverse community and therefore we will recruit a diverse volunteer population to contribute as much to the quality of services as to the quantity.
