Family Centre’s Volunteer Program places volunteers for a variety of positions. Orientation, training, supervision and performance evaluations are offered for all volunteers.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following position(s):

(1) Clerical Support 

Description: Are you organized, people-focused and looking to gain valuable career experience? We are looking for volunteers to assist our administrative staff with a few duties!

Details: This role would include covering the reception desk on Wednesdays between 1:00-3:00pm by answering phones, greeting clients, etc. Additional tasks include administrative support for our various programs and initiatives, including preparing materials, data entry, etc.

(2) Cleaning Assistants – Family Centre North

Description: Family Centre North needs to do our quarterly deep clean on Dec 19th and 20th and we want YOU to join us for hot chocolate, cookies, and scrubbing behind the fridges!

Details: Join us at The Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen located at Interfaith Food Bank on December 19th and/or 20th from 8:30-4:30. Drop in for an hour, or stay all day!

Rewarding Volunteer Roles include:

Early Childhood Assistants – Family Centre offers a number of parent and child programs where you interact with children and their caregivers in our Melcor Playroom/Ronald McDonald Play Area, Iron Works Indoor Playground, Family Centre West and Family Centre North programs.

Special Events Assistants – Family Centre participates in a number of FUN events which enables us to raise funds as well as interact with the community. Highway Cleanup, Bottle Drive, McHappy Day, and Boo Bash are just a few.

Clerical Assistants – People wanting to gain or maintain their clerical skills can take advantage of many opportunities.

Family Support Assistants – Our parent education and community kitchen offer a variety of programs designed to assist with personal growth, strengthening parenting, budgeting, food preparation and seeking solutions that work for you. Volunteers assist facilitators in a variety of ways.

Board of Directors and Committees – Opportunities are available to grow and strengthen Family Centre. Applications are accepted from January through March.

We have a great practicum-based volunteer opportunity through the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College.

Family Centre serves a culturally diverse community and therefore we will recruit a diverse volunteer population to contribute as much to the quality of services as to the quantity.
