Kids Have Stress Too
March 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Why focus on stress? Too much stress can cause problems for children. The signs and symptoms of stress can often be seen in children’s challenging behaviors. This program helps parents increase their understanding of children’s reactions to stress, and their own ability to help their children cope effectively with stress. Parents who have taken the program indicated that they increased their ability to model and teach effective stress management strategies to their children. Learning to handle stress is an important life skill for everyone! This program will be offered onsite as well as online. Once registered, the facilitators will contact you with the Zoom link.
Program Date: Thursday March 25, 2021 @ 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Please register each person attending the program individually. Due to COVID-19 we have only limited spaces available.

The Ironworks Playground is now open!
Please note that the space is not supervised by staff. Parents must monitor and supervise their children while in the space. Here are procedures we are implementing to adhere to AHS requirements and to help keep everyone safe.
· Do not come to Family Centre if your child shows signs or symptoms of COVID. Please refer to the Alberta Daily Health Check.
· Masks are required as per City Bylaw 6239.
· Family Centre will ask the health screening questions when you enter.
· Hand sanitizer will be available at reception and in Ironworks.
· Disinfectant and paper towel will be available in Ironworks.
· Bin for mouthed toys will be available.
· No food or beverages except reusable water bottles. Please note our fountains are not available.
· Capacity up to 10 people (counting children & adults).
Families are asked to call and book a time to use the space Monday – Friday between 8:30am-11:30am and 1:00pm-4:00pm. This will allow adequate time to thoroughly clean and sanitize at 11:30am and 4:00pm each week day it is used.
If there are several families that have a cohort bubble who would like to use the space, we ask that you call and register the group together. Remember the capacity is 10 people.
Family Centre North: On site programming will be gradual as we work with participants to create a safe environment. The kitchen will have 4 independent stations designated by plexi-glass. Each station will have portioned out ingredients for the class; individual pots, bowls, measuring equipment, knives, cutting boards and any other equipment needed for the recipe; designated stove/oven use; hand sanitizer; and cleaning supplies to enhance practices.Upon arrival to the kitchen, participants will be asked health screening questions and must wear a mask as per Bylaw 6269.Due to the limited space and COVID 19 restrictions we will take a graduated approach to integrating onsite classes with our virtual classes
Phase 1: offer one onsite adult cooking class for 4 individuals.
Phase 2: offer the adult cooking class to parents with children who already have built a cohort so that child care can be provided onsite (mid to late October).
Phase 3: offer additional onsite cooking classes (late October/November).
Phase 4: offer individuals with support workers class time (November/December).
