Family Centre’s Volunteer Program places volunteers for a variety of positions. Orientation, training, supervision and performance evaluations are offered for all volunteers.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following position(s):
(1) Clerical Support – Family Centre Downtown
Description: Are you organized, people-focused and looking to gain valuable career experience? We are looking for volunteers to assist our administrative staff with a few duties!
Details: This role would include covering the reception desk on Wednesdays and Fridays between 1:00-3:00pm by answering phones, greeting clients, etc. Additional tasks include administrative support for our various programs and initiatives, including preparing materials, data entry, etc.
(2) Early Childhood Education Assistants – Family Centre Downtown & Family Centre West
Description: We are looking for volunteers interested in Early Childhood Education Assistant opportunities for Fall 2023! If you enjoy putting your creativity and imagination to use as well as working with children 12 and under, this role might be for you!
Details: Please reach out to us for details! Duties include program set-up and preparation, interacting with children and their caregivers, assisting the program facilitator with any specific tasks, and clean-up. Opportunities available at both Downtown and West locations

(3) Special Events Assistants – Boo Bash – Oct. 28 10am-3pm @ Cor Van Raay YMCA
Description: We are looking for Special Events Assistants to help out at our annual Boo Bash Halloween Event. Boo Bash is a free community event for families with young children and sees attendance of 500-700 people throughout the day. If you are outgoing, enthusiastic and enjoy interacting with children and families in a fun, busy atmosphere, this is for you!
Details: Shifts are minimum 3-hrs in length from 9:30am-12:30pm or 12:30-3:30pm. Volunteers are tasked with duties such as greeting families at the door, assisting with the raffle prize table, running games and activities, and clean-up when the event is finished. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

We have a great practicum-based volunteer opportunity through the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College. Family Centre serves a culturally diverse community and therefore we will recruit a diverse volunteer population to contribute as much to the quality of services as to the quantity.
